Ah, the buddy film. A classic in the Hollywood subgenre. Due Date follows its brothers in the new bromance sub-subgenre of fine American Cinema. But wait, there's more! It's a road film too! Can this get any better? It definitely can, but unfortunately there are no heists in it. This film follows the story of two unlikely friends Zach Glaifianakis and Robert Downey Jr as they travel across America in search of
Ah, another film similar to that of Prince of Persia. And no I'm not talking about the black kid not being Asian, the original dude wasn't either was he? I'm talking about the maybe not so obvious fact that Karate is a Japanese martial art! Even Jackie Chan said he was teaching him kung-fu. But, I can ignore that just because Jackie Chan is in it and it brought an Asian culture to American theaters. Even thought it was extremely stereotypical, I saw some truth in those b-roll shots that the second unit couldn't set up and fake.
This modern Karate Kid starred Will Smith's son and awed black kids everywhere to try to kick really, really high. Until of course they got made fun of by the other kids in the neighborhood who couldn't afford to go to the movie. The movie was pretty safe up until the final fight scene where they pulled a Star Trek, blinded us with lens flares and promoted the actor in Cloverfield as camera operator. I thought I was going to vomit until the fight ended just in the nick of time. I give this movie one whereischristuckerwhenyouneedhim?
More after the break.
I admit it. I went out and saw this movie. I had not seen one trailer for it. I had no idea it was out. But I went and saw Tangled. To say the least, I thought it was decent. The lovely lady I was with said it was the best movie of the year. I beg to differ.
Maybe it's just nostalgia that forces me to compare this 50th animated Disney movie to classics like Beauty and the Beast and even Mulan, but I just don't think it even comes close. Maybe it's also just nostalgie that I think those old movies are good. I haven't seen them in a while honestly. But I felt Tangled was sloppy at times and the music no where nearly as memorable as the classics. I enjoyed How To Train Your Dragon more actually. I know it was made by Dreamworks but I kind of liked their smirks okay?!
On another note, Tangled is the second most expensive movie ever made $260,000,000 beating out Transformers, Spider-man, and a ton more. If you're wondering who it lost too, Google it you lazy asses. I give this movie a 80 buttered popcorn kernels.
At first I thought if the movie made after the biggest waste of time would be one of the biggest wastes of time, then I realized the poster was pretty cool, even though its based off of another, and I like to believe America isn't stupid enough to watch a bad movie about Facebook if it was actually a bad movie. Now I haven't seen it yet, but I hear good things. So bravo alternative Michael Cera guy, bravo.
