There's nothing like swag. No, not the kind that makes you walk funny. I stopped by Need Supply today and got caught up with what they're doing. You've probably seen the catalogues and videos out recently but they're getting ready for the holiday season and from what I've seen and heard, it'll be a good season for them. I've signed on for another video for the holidays and this one should be fun and cold to shoot.

Meet the Maker.

Come to Need Supply tomorrow night for a little get together with Raleigh Denim found Victor Lytvinenko as he introduces Raleigh Womens. I'll be there with my entourage of lenses. Oh yeah, you can win some expensive pants too!

Need Supply Shoot.

Around this time last month I went out with friends from Need Supply to shoot some footage for their upcoming Autumn/Winter season. I had done something like this before but that was more of a behind the scenes shoot. This time we tried to have something that could standalone as a sort of lookbook itself. Not to say that we didn't take advantage of this time and shoot something for the catalogue as well, we did. Here are some of photos I snapped from the side.

Ashley and Luke came up from North Carolina with rolls on rolls on rolls of film for the shoot. We dragged out our friends and shot over two days at numerous locations throughout Richmond. Here's our stylist Ali getting Cody ready to head out. Don't mind the booties.

Months Ago.

Found these old photos on my camera of when we took pictures of the SHHO clothes for the online shop. Elijah, Paul, Arnold and myself had picked up some supplies around town and got to working. Pretty decent set up if you ask me.

Great Britain.

First off, I would just like to apologize for my horrible semi-pun titles that I have made and will continue to do. Now that we have all recognized that. This is Britt Sebastien's studio. I feel like I'm probably one of the last people in Richmond that know Britt to blog about him, but honestly I only met him the other day. Britt is days away from being a graduate of VCU and is already running a successful screen printing shop, but what most people know him for is his Hollywood Cemetery clothing line.

Open Shop.

The SHHO shop is now officially open to the public. In the past, to rock the coveted SHHO Classic Hoodie, one must have either been apart of the organization or slept with someone who was and stole it the morning after. You could also skip those two factors and be Raekwon the Chef. Either way we've worked long and hard to put this one out along with a few other items for sale at the shop. Welcome to the club and keep on looking good.

Amsterdam Destroyer.

In this culture, whatever you want to call it, trends come and go as fast as (insert joke here). From raw denim to denim jackets, it's almost more cool to hop off the bandwagon before it even gets too loaded. The ad guys at Nike have done it right however. It's almost undeniably cool to see Clint Eastwood smoking a cigar, James Dean and his leather jacket. That's why when I get out of this rut of saving money on things that matter, I'm getting myself a Nike Destroyer Varsity jacket.

Heritage Collection.

So one of the main points I've left out when talking about this past trip to NY was the photo shoot with Nitty Scott, MC of the SHHO lookbook. She happily modeled for our heritage collection and she and her whole crew were a pleasure to work with.

The KDU.

Our first official stop in New York was at the headquarters of the Keystone Design Union in Brooklyn. It is a Design & Communication Agency that has over 1,000 members in more than 80 countries. The KDU has worked with Hennessy, Diesel, Reebok, and tons more. It's basically a group of smart and creative friends that work together. A Justice League if you will.

Jared greeted us at the door and gave the rundown of the facility as well as the history and future of the KDU. Don't get it twisted, he's not just a tour guide. Jared Liner has been the lead designer for several clothing brands including Recon, Nort and Subware. In short, his talent and age ratio is better than your's ever will be.

The Sartorialist.

Here's a little cool little documentary on Scott Schuman, also known as The Sartorialist. It was shot on a Canon 1D mark IV in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Check out a cool interview with the DP Joe Aguirre here.

Sick Society.

We've had a few questions about our last post on what kind of shirts some of the folks were wearing. Although they haven't officially launched as a clothing company, The Sick Society provided the apparel for that evening. They're in the process of renovating their website but you should see more of them soon. The graphics are were designed by our friends over at A College Project.

Need Supply Co.

I ended up at Need Supply yesterday to finish up some video work for their website. They recently moved to the end of the block in Carytown and opened up their new doors this past weekend. Now Richmond is no LA, SF or NY. There aren't any flagship stores of any of my favorite brands. There isn't really a place you can walk in, hangout and be apart of their identity. That's why it always amazes me when I walk in to Need. For over the past decade, Need Supply has slowly been rising to the top. It's like the reverse of a boiled frog.

They carry some of the best brands and definitely the best denim around. Their new space is, well more spacious and gives you a lot more room to breathe after coming to the realization, "I wish I was more rich so I can buy more clothes." So if you're ever in these neck of the woods, you should definitely stop by and give them money, you'll get something nice in return.

R&R.

We stopped by the office and warehouse of the RP55 Group recently in Virginia Beach, VA. This place is the home of T.I.'s Akoo Clothing, Clipse's Play Cloths as well as many other clothing brands. We can't say what we were doing here but we can give you a little tour.

This is Ralph Reynolds, one of the co-founders of RP55. He wanted to get away from NYC and came down to the beach with 47 cents in his pocket. He ended up being one of the biggest hip hop moguls in the urban street wear game. Don't get them confused with Supreme or some vague Japanese brand that overcharges for a button-up. RP55 is straight business.
